Adrian Vance started this company in 2014 doing commercial access-control jobs, and the habit stuck: photograph what you found, write down what you changed, and leave the homeowner with both. Luis M. - Lead Gate Technician
Luis has been with Vance since 2017, which in gate-repair years makes him the institutional memory of the Huntington Beach shop. He handles the hard diagnoses: the swing gate that opens six inches and reverses, the slide gate that grinds off the rail at hour three of a party, the opener that runs but won’t move the leaf. Luis is certified on LiftMaster and FAAC low-voltage systems and has rebuilt more Viking arm operators than he cares to count. He keeps a notebook in the truck with torque specs for every brand we service. Off the clock, he restores a 1972 Chevy C10 at the pace of about one bolt per weekend.
Devon R. - Senior Installer
Devon runs the jobs where the old gate comes out entirely and a new one goes in. He started in ornamental iron welding before moving to gate systems full time, so he’s the one who notices when a post wasn’t set square before the concrete went in. Devon welds, sets posts, hangs the leaf, and wires the operator, then walks the homeowner through every limit and safety adjustment. His specialty is custom driveway gates on uneven Huntington Beach lots, which he describes as “every lot between Beach Boulevard and the wetlands.” He’s been with Vance since 2019. He coaches a youth wrestling program in the off-season and talks about pivot points more than anyone should at dinner.
Maria S. - Service Coordinator
Maria is the voice on the phone at three in the morning when a gate won’t close and someone has a flight in five hours. She’s been dispatching home-service technicians since 2015 and joined Vance in 2020. Maria knows which technician is closest to your neighborhood, what part stock we carry, and how to read a job photo well enough to tell you honestly whether it’s a thirty-minute fix or a parts-order situation. She doesn’t put anyone on hold unless a truck is calling in. When we say a live person answers 24/7, Maria is usually that person. She keeps a tally of how many gates she’s helped get closed over the phone with the “firm push, wait for the click” maneuver.
Tony C. - Apprentice Technician
Tony is the newest member of the crew, riding with Luis since 2023. He carries the parts, logs the photo records, and has reached the stage where he can diagnose a bad photo-eye alignment before the senior tech says a word. He’s working toward his LiftMaster certification and does most of the panel wiring on new operator installs under supervision. Tony grew up in Huntington Beach and knows the neighborhoods well enough to tell you which alleys have the oldest swing hardware. He’s the reason every job gets a second set of eyes on the torque sequence. He also makes a burrito order that the rest of the crew refuses to beat.
